Japan is fighting food waste as much as all developed countries, even more so considering the Japanese obsession with freshness. House Foods Group, one of Japan's biggest food manufacturers and brands, found a unique way to put the spices that don't make it into its famous curries to good use: it offered them to Mizuiro, a company specializing in vegetable-based crayons, to create a special set of crayons with the colors and the aroma of the spices. The result is the aptly named Mizuiro Spice Crayons Set!
Each box of Mizuiro Spice Crayons Set contains 10 different crayons based on the spices House Foods uses in its products: clove, cinnamon, turmeric, thyme, basil, parsley, paprika, white pepper, red pepper, and bay leaf. The colors are also related to the spices so even if you are not sure which is which, the smell will tell you: since each crayon is made using a real spice, it also has its own special fragrance. Each time you sit down to paint, you will feel like you are in a kitchen where a delicious meal is being cooked!
