Thanko Kalari Crispy Fryer for One

Small-quantity deep frying appliance

Japanese cuisine is mostly known for raw fish, steamed rice, and miso soup, but one of the first things you learn when you arrive in Japan is that frying, and especially deep frying, is a crucial part of the local diet: from tempura and chicken karaage to a staggering variety of croquettes and breaded katsu cutlets, there are few things the Japanese won't fry. And with the Thanko Kalari Crispy Fryer for One, you too can now prepare any of these countless dishes quickly, deliciously, and easily – and in quantities small enough to accommodate even one diner!

The Thanko Kalari Crispy Fryer for One is made of four pieces (the heating main unit, the pot where the oil goes, its lid, and a grill where you can put your fried food to shed the extra oil) that all add up to a very handy 206 x 145 x 107 mm (8.1 x 5.7 x 4.2"). In other words, it fits even in the smallest of kitchens. You can use it with just 300 ml (10 fl oz) of oil and it reaches its highest temperature (200°C/392°F) in about 13 minutes, meaning you don't have to wait long before your fried delights are ready on your plate!
