Hakusan Sue Porcelain Condiment Container

Ceramic seasoning jar

Mustard (regular or karashi with its extra kick), shichimi togarashi (chili-based seven spice mix), wasabi, or even umeboshi pickled plums: there are many seasonings that the Japanese like to have on their table, depending on what the main and side dishes are, and the Hakusan Sue Porcelain Condiment Container is a beautiful and stylish way to keep them in. You only need to pick the color (gray, navy, or white). The shape is the same each time, inspired by pebbles found in riverbeds.

This approach to design is new but the Hakusan Sue Porcelain Condiment Container has a long pedigree: it has been made in Nagasaki Prefecture, an area known for producing this type of porcelain since the Kofun period, 15 centuries ago! So besides being a practical 6.5 x 6 x 5.5 cm (2.6 x 2.4 x 2.2") jar that holds about 40 ml (1.4 oz) of your favorite condiment, it's also a piece of Japanese art that can even be used as a decorative ornament!
