Kokoro and Arigato Earrings

Japanese calligraphy (shodo) is more than a way to communicate using the written language. It is written with a brush and ink that the calligraphers themselves make using coal and water, and the image-like shapes of Japanese blurs the line between simple writing and art. This is especially apparent when it comes to the work of renowned calligraphers like Kyoto-based Saori Kunihiro, who, using her 30+ years of experience in shodo, created the small masterpieces that are the Kokoro and Arigato Earrings!

The Kokoro and Arigato Earrings are 3D renderings of Saori-sensei's writing of two of the most common Japanese words, arigato (thank you) and kokoro (heart or mind). They are written using the hiragana syllabary, which even first-grader Japanese can read, and are available in K10 gold or 925 silver versions. Their lengths are 2.6 cm (1") for the kokoro earring and 3.2 cm (1.3") for the arigato earring, and are made for pierced ears.
