Black Thunder Mini Bars

Mini-sized nuts and chocolate candy

US$ 12

You can get amazingly top quality chocolate in Japan - so much so, you may wonder why Tokyo isn't considered a chocolate metropolis like Brussels or Paris. But if you want a truly Japanese chocolate experience that everyone in the land knows and loves, you should visit a regular candy shop or convenience store. This is where you will find the classic Black Thunder and its smaller, practical cousin, the Black Thunder Mini Bars. One bite and the subsequent explosion of chocolate tells you why this has been a Japanese staple snack for almost 30 years.

Black Thunder Mini Bars

Like most candy, Black Thunder started targeting elementary school students. In about five years after its introduction in 1995, it was already become a hit all over Japan, thanks to its crunchy rice puff texture, thick chocolate flavor, and the mix of nuts and cookie pieces. Black Thunder is always small, but the even more compact Black Thunder Mini Bars are about half the size and come in a convenient pack of around 12 one-bite chunks!
