Iwachu Japanese Cast-Iron Large Casserole

Western-style cooking pot

Nanbu (Nambu) tekki ironware is a traditional style of metalwork that has been produced in the cities of Morioka and Oshu in Japan's Iwate Prefecture since the early 18th century. Even today, craftspeople in the area, like those of the Iwachu company that has been operating in Morioka since 1901, continue to make Nanbu tekki the same way they have been for over 200 years. But as you can see from the Iwachu Japanese Cast-Iron Large Casserole, they don't mind adding a modern touch to those traditions!

The same processes that give the region's teapots and utensils their trademark color and texture have been used for the Iwachu Japanese Cast-Iron Large Casserole, combining all the benefits of a Japanese cast-iron pot (excellent temperature retention, ease of use and maintenance, etc.) with the shape and dimensions (30 x 23.5 x 11.5 cm / 11.8 x 9.3 x 4.5" and with a capacity of 3.4 liters) of a Western-style casserole. You can use it with any type of cooker (including gas, open flame, and induction heating), and after the food is ready, you can even bring the casserole to the table and serve directly from it!
