Mini Hinamatsuri Dolls Set

Miniature traditional Girls' Day ornament

The Hina dolls Japanese families with daughters traditionally put out to celebrate the Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day) on March 3 are a real piece of art: laid out in many different tiers, the dolls are dressed as Heian-period (795-1185) aristocrats ready to escort the imperial couple to their wedding. But what happens if you don't have the space to use a full-sized set of dolls? You get a Mini Hinamatsuri Dolls Set!

Created by the same craftspeople who make the large arrays, the Mini Hinamatsuri Dolls Set is a full five-tier array with 15 dolls, starting with the emperor and empress at the top and going down to the three court ladies, the five male musicians, the two ministers, and the three helpers/protectors. And because no Hinamatsuri set would be complete without them, accessories including lamps, hishi mochi sweets, and flowers. Together with the dais for placing them and the folding screen at the top, this set is just 140 x 110 x 103 mm (5.5 x 4.3 x 4"), so should fit even a tiny Tokyo apartment!
