Made some five thousand years ago during them middle part of the Jomon period, the flame-shaped earthenware is a style of pottery famous among the many artifacts excavated in northern Japan. And now it's a cushion for your home. A famous piece of earthenware pottery might seem like a strange choice for a cushion design, but Felissimo is known for its innovation. Produced in collaboration with Tokamachi City Museum in Niigata, the Jomon Snow Flame Pottery Cushion Cover is a particularly iconic and beautiful example of the flame pot tradition that is a designated National Treasure.
Unlike the actual Jomon Snow Flame pot, this cover is not fragile at all! It's soft and comfortable, and slips easily over your cushion or even a large towel. The print is really detailed, bringing to life the skill and imagination of potters who lived in northern Japan thousands of years ago.
