Like the Slimes, the Archdemon has been part of Dragon Quest since the early days (since the 1987 Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line, in fact). Unlike the Slimes, though, the Archdemon is a real monster with impressive bat-shaped wings, horns, a spiked tail, and even a pitchfork that not only fights physically but also does some serious magic, particularly of the explosive kind, like the powerful spell Kaboom.
