Tamagotchi Kitchen Timer White

Classic digital pet timer

Even the cheapest smartphone in the market today is at least 100 times more powerful than any technology that was around in the 1990s, so you would expect the Tamagotchi, the digital pet series Bandai launched in 1996, would have found their way into a museum years ago. But you'd be wrong: besides the fact that Bandai still makes them, their look has become one of the classic images of early computerdom (and a symbol of the 1990s) and this is why it continues to appear on other gadgets – like the Tamagotchi Kitchen Timer White!

The "tamago" part of "Tamagotchi" means egg, and this is why the Tamagotchi Kitchen Timer White (and the first-generation Tamagotchi it takes its looks from) is the color it is, and has an exterior that looks like a broken shell. The 2.3 x 6.4 x 8 cm (7.6 x 3.9 x 1.3") timer is somewhat bigger than the original Tamagotchi so the screen is easier to see, has a three-button interface that is super simple to use, can count up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds, and comes with a stand and magnetic back so you can always have it around in your kitchen – even on the refrigerator door!
