Monacca Bag Kaku

The name for this unique wooden case comes from the design's resemblance to the eponymous Japanese bean jam wafer sweet. But don't let that fool you. This is no gimmicky bag. It's one seriously cool and functional item. The Monacca Bag Kaku uses layers of cedar stitched together and reminds us just how "Japanese" wood can feel.
You will be able to store and carry a 17-inch laptop, an iPad or tablet, both B4 and A4-size files, and more. The handle and inside, meanwhile, are built for comfort, not for hipster decoration. This is the very best in design: Stylish, minimal, traditional, practical.
Created by Takumi Shimamura, it has transformed the fortunes of Kochi, Shikoku-based Ecoasu Umajimura, a small wood plant in the designer's hometown. It's not hard to see why.
