Omoshiroi Block Asakusa Kaminarimon Gate Memo Pad

3D Tokyo landmark notepad

Most cities have one emblematic landmark: your Statues of Liberty, your Eiffel Towers, your Big Bens, etc. Tokyo, though, probably as a reflection of its size, has several or, depending how you see it, none. If forced to choose, though, most Tokyoites would choose the Kaminarimon Gate in Asakusa, the first of the two gates leading to Sensoji, Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple, and in the top 10 of the world's tourist destinations (or traps). It is this exact gate that's reproduced in the Omoshiroi Block Asakusa Kaminarimon Gate Memo Pad, allowing you to view the landmark whenever you want without having to share the experience with thousands of tourists!

At first, you won't be able to spot the gate: all you see is a 8.5 x 8.2 x 4.3 cm (3.3 x 3.2 x 1.7") block of 150 sheets of paper weighing 250 g (8.8 oz). But as you start using the pad and pulling off the sheets one after the other, the gate with its roof, two statues of the wind and thunder gods Fujin and Raijin, and its iconic huge lantern with the characters for Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) become visible, transforming your desk into a small corner of East Tokyo!
