Oisesan Purification Salt

Japan's indigenous religion, Shinto, isn't really concerned with good and bad: its basic dualism is pure and impure, and this is why salt has been both a symbol and tool of purification in many parts of traditional Japanese culture: sumo wrestlers throw handfuls of salt on the ring before their bout and small cones of salt are put outside traditional restaurants to invite customers. And now, with the Oisesan Purification Salt, you too can use this ancient method of purification to cleanse your space!

The Oisesan Purification Salt is made from mineral-rich seawater that has been dried in the sun. This makes the salt turn into small flakes with rough salt bits. The bag contains 400 g (14.1 oz) of salt, which should last for long even if you change it twice a month (as is the custom). Take a pinch, put it on a small plate, and then place it in a space with no windows or in a space with water for maximum effect, and feel the tranquility that it brings to you as it has for hundreds of generations of Japanese.
