This steel, called NSSC A-3, has been gone through a special anti-microbial procedure so is ideal for use in vessels handling food. As for the 20.5 x 17.8 x 6.5 cm (8 x 7 x 2.6") hexagonal base that holds it, this is made from Yoshino hinoki cypress from Nara and has a beautiful grain – worthy of the dog or cat that holds a special place in your heart!
