Imabari Imadai Sleeping Towel

Adjustable-height towel pillow

When it comes to bedding, the Japanese have some rather unusual concepts, with the towelket, a combination of towel and blanket, being the most prominent example. If you can't think why you would want to use a towel as a blanket (or, most accurately, as a sheet), you haven't being through the humid hell that is a summer night in Tokyo. The Imabari Imadai Sleeping Towel is another idea based on a combination of bedding and towel. The difference is that here, the towel is not something you cover your body with but something you lay your head on!

The Imabari Imadai Sleeping Towel is made up of two parts: the 90 cm (3 ft) towel and the pillow, which is made up of three "stripes," 15 cm (5.9") long each. How you use it is up to you: you can roll the towel to support your neck and lay your head on one of the stripes, or fold the stripes to make it higher, or make the whole thing a bigger roll to keep your head high as you sleep – or any other combination you can think of. The fabric is 100% cotton from Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, Japan's towel center, so quality is guaranteed.
