Yajimaen Exclusive Tea Garden Sayama Tea
Special green tea from selected Saitama Prefecture tea plantations
On the Musashino Plateau at the southwestern region of Saitama Prefecture, close to the border with Tokyo, lies the city of Sayama. You probably won't recognize the name unless you are really into Japanese green tea, in which case you will have heard of Sayama-cha (Sayama tea). And you will probably love it because it is quite different from the regular sencha tea you can get in Shizuoka or any other major tea-producing areas: the climate means the leaves are thicker, which makes for a sweeter taste and a large concentration of antioxidants. This is exactly what you get with the Yajimaen Exclusive Tea Garden Sayama Tea!
Yajimaen is one of the many tea producers in Japan but being based in Ageo, a city in Saitama that is very close to Sayama, gives it a privileged knowledge of the local tea's characteristics as well as access to some specific plantations with top-grade crops. The Yajimaen Exclusive Tea Garden Sayama Tea comes from these particular spots and is the company's best offerings, hence the silver and gold cans it comes with. Each contains two 65 g (2.3 oz) bags, so in total you get 260 g (9.2 oz) of an amazing Japanese tea that you can either enjoy yourself or, since it comes in a gift box, give as a present to someone.
