The wooden part is the cover for the E26-type socket, which is good for incandescent bulbs up to 60 W, compact fluorescent bulbs up to 60 W, and of course the LED bulbs that are more and more becoming the standard in most homes. And so that you can use it immediately, the socket comes with a 1,000 mm (3.3 ft) power cord and 38 W clear E26 bulb!
