Without a doubt, the one master Japanese landscape painter everyone knows is Katsushika Hokusai, thanks to his series featuring Mount Fuji that include The Great Wave off Kanagawa. There is at least one other equally famous painter from roughly the same period (late 18th-19th century), Utagawa Hiroshige, and he owes his fame to a series called The 53 Stations of the Tokaido. These are all paintings (that became woodblock prints) of landscapes from the 53 post towns and rest areas on the highway connecting Edo (old Tokyo) to Kyoto and have also inspired the Utagawa Hiroshige 53 Stations of the Tokaido Jigsaw Puzzle!
Besides being able to study some of the most important works of art of early modern Japan, by completing the Utagawa Hiroshige 53 Stations of the Tokaido Jigsaw Puzzle you also get the opportunity to travel back in time and see how was Japan back in the days of the samurai, before the advent of technology and Western influences.
