Just by looking at one of them, you wouldn't believe that the Tsugaru Vidro Glass Candle has been created in Japan using glass craftsmanship that goes back over 60 years. But it's true: Hokuyo Glass company's color glass technique known as Tsugaru Vidro began life as floats for fishing back in 1949 and only turned to more regular everyday uses in the mid-1970s, when plastic became a much more practical choice. Made in the Tsugaru area of Aomori Prefecture, this glass candle is a perfect manifestation of the know-how of Hokuyo's glass blowers and bring to your space something of Tsugaru's artisanal character.
The Tsugaru Vidro Glass Candle is available in four options: Matsuri (a reference to Aomori's Nebuta Festival, one of Japan's three biggest), Umi (which means sea, the lifeblood of the area), Ringo (apple, famous in Aomori Prefecture), and Sakura (cherry blossom, which is as beautiful in Aomori as anywhere in Japan). All the glass candles are 7.2 x 4.5 cm (2.8 x 1.8"), filled with gel wax by Rin Candle, and with breathtaking color schemes!
