Tamiya Microcomputer Robot (Crawler Type)

Programmable robot kit

Fear of machines has been a thing for over a century (just ask any science fiction writer!) and even more so recently since robots have actually replaced humans for many jobs. That said, the Japanese still harbor an enormous love for anything robotic and the Tamiya Microcomputer Robot (Crawler Type) is a good example of what this means for the hobbyist: this kit gives you the chance to not only build your own track-style robot but to program it as well!

The Tamiya Microcomputer Robot (Crawler Type) is powered by 130-type motors and a twin gearbox, and also features an ultrasonic sensor that allows it to overcome obstacles. What is really great, though, is that at its heart, so to speak, lies a BBC micro:bit microcomputer circuit board that you can program using the free online MakeCode editor. This isn't just a vehicle assembly kit but a superbly educational tool for children and adults alike.
