The 1950s were one of the hardest periods of Japanese history: the country was trying to rebuild itself after the destruction of World War II, its economy was in shambles, and its people were struggling to survive. One of the most popular items of modern Japanese fashion, the sukajan jacket, was born during that time, first as a souvenir for American soldiers and then as a dress for rebellious young people. Tailor Toyo was the company who brought those jackets from the embroiders of the city of Yokosuka (hence the "suka" in sukajan) and other other places in Japan, and sold them in Tokyo, like it still does today with the Tailor Toyo Roaring Tiger & Black Dragon Sukajan Jacket!

Like many of the original sukajan, the Tailor Toyo Roaring Tiger & Black Dragon Sukajan Jacket is reversible, so can be worn inside out, and each side has a different color (blue and red) and design (tiger and dragon). All the embroidery is done by hand, also like the original jackets of the 1950s, and even the word "Japan" on the tiger side is written in the "kung-fu font" of that era for extra authenticity. Available in six sizes (S to XXXL), this is as close to a vintage sukajan jacket as you can get, brought to you by the same people who produced them 70 years ago!
