There weren't many items the American soldiers during the postwar occupation could bring home when they returned from Japan: the country was in ruins and very few decent things were actually manufactured. One that did prove popular, however, was the spectacularly embroidered souvenir jackets (aka sukajan) first made in the city of Yokosuka, in Kanagawa Prefecture, very close to an American base. These jackets continue to exist today and even though most are made using state-of-the-art embroidery machines, some like the Tailor Toyo Dragon and Tiger & Eagle Reversible Sukajan Jacket are still made the old-fashioned way by hand!

And this is why it also uses only classic patterns like this jacket's dragon, tiger, and eagle in two different combinations: the jacket is reversible, so you can wear it as two different jackets, either a full golden one or a green one with white sleeves.
