Sumo All-Weather Folding Umbrella

Compact sumo-themed umbrella

It is one of the many ritualistic things that make sumo, well, sumo: every day, before the Juryo and the Makunouchi, the two top category bouts start, all the rikishi (wrestlers) that are going to fight enter the ring wearing their ceremonial aprons, stand in a circle and perform a series of claps and hand waves to the delight and applause of the spectators. This ceremony, called the dohyo-iri, can now be part of your everyday routine because it's the pattern decorating the Sumo All-Weather Folding Umbrella, brought to you by sumo's official organization, the Nihon Sumo Kyokai (Japan Sumo Association)!

Good for both rain and sun (it has a 99.9% UV cut and shade rate so it can work fine as a parasol too), the Sumo All-Weather Folding Umbrella is 54 cm (21.3") when open but shrinks down to a mere 25 cm (9.8") for ease of carrying it around (it comes with a special case for those occasions). And all around its canopy are images of sumo wrestlers taken from ukiyo-e woodblock prints made in the Edo period (1600–1868) so when you're under the umbrella, it feels like you're in the center of the ring with a really privileged view of the rikishi before their bouts!
