Steiff Samurai Teddy Bear Blue

Traditional Japanese warrior plush toy

All great samurai and generals had their crests, armor, and kabuto helmets with specific ornaments that would symbolize the things they thought important. And while centuries have passed since the heyday of the samurai, modern Japanese still recognize some of those symbols, especially those related to the greatest shogun in history, Tokugawa Ieyasu. And which can be seen in the Steiff Samurai Teddy Bear Blue, a unique toy exclusive to the Japanese market!

The Steiff Samurai Teddy Bear Blue might look gimmicky but it definitely not the type of souvenir you can get in Tokyo's touristy areas: it's been made by German toy maker Steiff that has been specializing in plush toys, and particularly teddy bears, since the end of the 19th century. It is 21 x 18 x 37 cm (8.3 x 7 x 14.6"), made of mohair and polyester, and dressed in a dark blue samurai armor with the kabuto helmet of Tokugawa Ieyasu that is decorated with fern leaves, a symbol of longevity and purity of heart.
