One of the many characteristics that Japanese cuisine shares with Chinese is the absence of big plates in favor of small ones. This allows diners to try many different flavors during the same meal while also enjoying different shapes, colors, and styles of tableware. The Spirited Away Porcelain Small Plate is one such tableware item, crafted in Gifu Prefecture, which is famous for its Mino-yaki school of pottery, and coming in a size (125 x 25 mm/4.9 x 1") that can accommodate pretty much anything from soy sauce to appetizers and side dishes.
The better part, though, is that, as its name suggests, the Spirited Away Porcelain Small Plate is inspired by the food stalls in the magical town where the 2001 classic anime Spirited Away takes place! Fans of the film will instantly recognize the decorative patterns, the character Haku transformed into a dragon, the Susuwatari (soot sprites), and the logo for the Aburaya, the public bathhouse run by the witch Yubaba. So much more just a regular piece of tableware, this is a real collectors' item that any anime fan will love to own!
