Shiroi Koibito Reversible Cushion

Popular chocolate cookie throw pillow

The Japanese love their sweets – and not just the ones that are part of their tradition: since the opening of Japan to the world in the mid-19th century, they have been exposed to all kinds of new ingredients (like chocolate, cream, butter, etc.) and the things that can be done with them. Some of their interpretations of imported sweets are simply spectacular, as anyone who has been in Japan on Valentine's Day can attest. The cookies called Shiroi Koibito (White Lover) and made in Hokkaido since 1976 are one such example, and are so popular that a whole fandom has emerged around them – hence the Shiroi Koibito Reversible Cushion!

The Shiroi Koibito Reversible Cushion gives you a big Shiroi Koibito cookie on your sofa, armchair, or even bed. "Big" as in 450 x 450 x 130 mm (17.7 x 17.7 x 5.1"), which is considerably bigger than the actual 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2") cookie! Still, the likeness is uncanny, both on the cushion's outer side, which features the wrapping, and on the inner side, which features the actual cookie, rounded corners, and all: part of the fun of having this cushion is that you can reverse its sides and enjoy two different designs!
