Sasicco Four-Way Shoulder Bag

Multipurpose bag made with traditional stitching

You can use it as a shoulder bag. Or as a bigger bag, thanks to its canvas extension. Or take off the shoulder strap to turn it into a handbag. Or you can open the canvas extension once again and use it as a bigger handbag: the titular number in the Sasicco Four-Way Shoulder Bag is no exaggeration because this is really a bag that can be used in four different ways. However, what makes it truly unique is the Sasicco part.

Sasicco is another way of writing sashiko, a special stitching that the Japanese have used for centuries to reinforce cotton fabric. Famously used in the jackets of the firefighters in the Edo period (1600-1868), it was later repurposed for judo and kendo (fencing) uniforms. Tanei, the company behind the Sasicco Four-Way Shoulder Bag, has been manufacturing such uniforms since 1921. This means that the 375 x 410 x 290 x 120 mm (11.8 x 23.6 x 16.9 x 7.5") bag is as sturdy as it is roomy and can accompany you for many years, ready to help on many different occasions. Get it in black, khaki, or firefighter (checkered) shashiko!
