Sakura Teacup

Cherry blossom-shaped porcelain cup

Hanami is the Japanese custom of sitting under the cherry blossoms and contemplating their fleeting beauty. One of the time-honored traditions of Japan, it has always been associated with eating and drinking. And while the "drinking" part usually involves alcohol, the Sakura Teacup offers an alternative that is as Japanese as all the above, and perhaps even more so: green tea.

The Sakura Teacup is made of simple white porcelain and measures about 8.7 x 5.6 cm (3.4 x 2.2"), which means it can hold up to 140 cc (4.7 fl oz) of green tea. What makes it exceptional and perfect for hanami, though, is that its shape is like cherry blossom, so when viewed from above, the green of the tea creates a perfect spring motif! Even if you don't have a cherry tree nearby, you can always enjoy the blossom right there in your cup!
