Oyster Plate

Seafood-shaped serveware

If you like seafood, you will love the Oyster Plate, because there's no better serveware to showcase a freshly baked oyster or one fried with breadcrumbs and a touch of garlic. This oyster shell is actually made of tin in such a way to replicate all the details and texture of the real thing!

The two parts of the Oyster Plate are made by a company from Hiroshima called Castem, which specializes in precision casting. With four plants in Japan and abroad, Castem makes parts for any type of machinery you can think of but sometimes its designers tackle some projects just for the fun of it and this is one such project: using tin, which is perfect for items touching food thanks to its nontoxic nature and corrosion resistance, and a 3D scan of a real oyster shell, Castem has created a perfect 12.5 x 5.5 x 3 cm (4.9 x 2.2 x 1.2") replica that you can use to serve an oyster – or simply as decoration!
