Osaka Suzuki Shizuku Chopstick Rests

Tin tableware set

Chopstick rests are becoming one of the most popular souvenirs among tourists coming to Japan, not least because of the variety of designs and materials available. From simple folded origami-style paper to valuable metals, anything can become a chopstick rest! The Osaka Suzuki Shizuku Chopstick Rests are a fine example of this diversity of material and shape: you'd have to look very hard to find something more extraordinary.

Made by a company specializing in tin crafts, the Osaka Suzuki Shizuku Chopstick Rests are a perfect example of what the wabi-sabi Japanese aesthetic expressed with rough and unprocessed textures, resulting in something looks and feels organic. Each of the five rests in this set is different in terms of shape and size but are all between 3.5 and 5 cm (1.4 and 2") and weigh between 22 and 28 g (0.8 and 1 oz). Even the top part, which has been flattened so you can rest your chopsticks, looks like it was made that way naturally instead of by an artisan's hand!
