It took a while for visitors to Japan to realize that for every piece of sushi served, there are at least five onigiri rice balls bought at supermarkets, convenience stores, or specialized shops, or made at home. More than just snacks, onigiri are essentially full meals and come in as many variations as there are people who make them. For the Japanese, they are the ultimate comfort food and what locals first turn to at times of emergency. Which was the inspiration behind the Ongiri on the Go Instant Rice Balls!
Based on the concept of instant ramen, where dehydrated noodles are brought to life by hot water, the Onigiri on the Go's six rice balls can stay in their vacuum sealed bags for 5 and a half years and only need a little water (hot or cold) to become fluffy and delicious meals! They are available in three common onigiri flavors (with wakame or kombu kelp or gomoku okowa, where rice is mixed with burdock, carrot, mushrooms, lotus root, and more). Once prepared, they weigh as much as a homemade or store-bought onigiri – and taste just as good!
