All Hayao Miyazaki fans, and particularly those of My Neighbor Totoro, will probably say the same thing when they see the My Neighbor Totoro Chopstick Rests: What took Studio Ghibli so long? You would have thought that since chopstick rests are the companion to chopsticks, the main eating utensils for over 120 million Japanese, a chopstick rest set would be one of the first things Studio Ghibli made. But no matter how long it took them, everyone will agree that these rests were worth the wait!
The My Neighbor Totoro Chopstick Rests are feature characters from the anime: O-Totoro, Chu-Totoro, and Chibi-Totoro perched on an acorn, and a Susuwatari soot sprite sitting on an ear of corn with the words "To mommy" written on it (just like the one Mei gave to her mom in the movie). They are made of clay painted and baked in the style of traditional Shigaraki pottery from Shiga Prefecture by the Meizangama pottery workshop, whose history goes back to 1622.
