The traditional kendama cup-and-ball toy has recently become popular overseas, sparking renewed interest in it back in its native Japan. This is one of the results: the Musical Kendama by DJ Koo. But this isn't just a regular kendama at all. The toy makes record scratches and other sounds remixed by veteran music star DJ Koo when you get the ball onto one of the three cups. It also glows and plays music. In other words, it turns a kendama player into a DJ!
Playing a kendama requires similar skills to juggling or using a diabolo, and this nifty version adds an interactive musical element. There are multiple modes, including counting (DJ Koo himself calls out the numbers), dub, techno, analog, and more.
