Kyugetsu Geisha Hagoita with Case (Small)

Traditional shuttlecock paddle ornament

From a paddle for a traditional badminton-like game back in the 8th century, the hagoita became a talisman for the good health of children (and particularly girls) in the 17th century, and then a way for actors in kabuki theater to advertise themselves in the 18th and 19th centuries. It remains a great present for girls, especially at the beginning of a new year, and this is the idea behind the Kyugetsu Geisha Hagoita with Case, one of the most beautiful hagoita you will find.

Made by a Tokyo workshop with a history going back to the early 19th century, when Tokyo was still called Edo, the Kyugetsu Geisha Hagoita with Case comes in a glass case that measures 22 x 18 x 37 cm (8.7 x 7 x 14.6") and is accompanied by a decorative ball called a temari that also comes from another traditional game from centuries ago. Created with a technique that gives the geisha-style figure a three-dimensional look and made using real kimono fabric, this is a beautiful object that will stay in your family for generations!
