Yo-yos have been very popular in Japan since the Edo period (1600-1868) when a big part of Japanese culture as we know it today was developed. The Sanrio Ice Cream Yo-Yo approaches the concept from a decidedly different angle: not because it features an outer side with four of Japan's most-beloved characters, Sanrio's Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, and Kuromi. But because the body of the toy can be used as a quick-and-easy-to-use ice cream maker!

The Sanrio Ice Cream Yo-Yo is essentially a ball-shaped container for ice cubes, milk, and anything else you would like to use to flavor your ice cream, from fruits to juices, chocolate, nuts, and more. You fill the special cup with ice cubes, the rest of the ball with the other ingredients (including some sugar), and then you put its lid on and use it as a yo-yo – or even as a rolling ball. When you have played enough and want to rest, you can open it and enjoy fresh, homemade ice cream – it even comes with its own spoon!
