Kenko Pieni 8 Toy Camera

Retro film camera design

Analog cameras continue to be attractive to younger users who weren't around when the actual cameras were. For most, though, the attraction is limited to the looks since nothing beats the convenience of digital! The Kenko Pieni 8 Toy Camera was designed for the same millennial/Gen-Z crowd, giving them the opportunity to discover the joys of another type of camera: the Super 8, which was until about 30 years ago the main way to shoot moving images. And what's best, the Pieni 8 does this in a very compact (76 x 77 x 23 mm / 3 x 3 x 0.9") packaging!

Like all Kenko's Pieni series, the Kenko Pieni 8 is advertised as a toy camera because of its size but since this is the 2020s, that small USB-rechargeable box, though shaped like a handheld Super 8 camera, actually takes micro SD and micro SDHC cards of up to 32 GB, and shoots both still images and video at 1,280 x 960 and 640 x 480 (12 fps), respectively, through its 1.8 mm, F2.8 lens to its 1/9 CMOS sensor. So put your smartphone camera aside for a while and discover Super, 8 reinterpreted for the 21st century!
