Hokusai T-Shirt Red Fuji

Casual clothing with contemporary reinterpretation of classic art

Everyone, even in Japan, knows it as Red Fuji but Edo-era master Katsushika Hokusai always used more poetic titles for his works. In this case, the second masterpiece in his Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji is actually called Fine Wind, Clear Morning, certainly a name that complements the impression you get when you see the red cone of Japan's tallest mountain against a green plain and a blue sky. The Hokusai T-Shirt Red Fuji takes this classic image in a whole new direction, thanks to the imagination of the creators of the Hokusai Project!

The Hokusai Project is an initiative based in Sumida ward, the area of Tokyo where Hokusai lived and worked, and consists of artists who take his original works and breathe new life into them, reimagining them in different settings and contexts. In the case of the Hokusai T-Shirt Red Fuji, the main body of the original appears on the back with the red color toned down to blend better with the shirt's beige color, while the clouds under Fuji on the front right breast have been mixed with tree branches from other Hokusai works. A beautiful cotton T-shirt available in two sizes!
