When you play any of the Pokemon games, you interact with Nintendo's dozens of cute (and sometimes not so cute) pocket monsters. But interacting with them in the real world would be much better. Apparently Nintendo believes that too and its designers got together with those at Takara Tomy, one of Japan's top toy manufacturers, to bring you a lifelike version of the most popular Pokemon character: the High-Five Pikachu Robot, which will become your children's best friend – and perhaps yours too!
It looks like a regular Pikachu figure but the High-Five Pikachu Robot is actually a sophisticated machine with enough intelligence to listen to you calling its name and respond both with sounds ("Pika!," "Pika-pika!," "Pikachu!," etc.) and also gestures: Pikachu tilts its head and raise that trademark tail so you can high-five it. If Pikachu senses that you are around but don't talk to it, the robot talks to you first and if it doesn't detect any conversation for 20 minutes, it puts itself into sleep mode to save battery power.
