Hario Back-to-Basics Glass Teapot

Easy-to-use tea maker

Between the tradition of the tea ceremony and the ubiquity of tea in Japan, it is easy to feel intimidated about how you approach the green beverage, its varieties, and the way to prepare it. If you feel guilty about always resorting to teabags, Hario, one of Japan's premier manufacturers of coffee- and tea-making equipment, is here to help. The Hario Back-to-Basics Glass Teapot offers an easy yet effective way to make high-quality tea.

The Hario Back-to-Basics Glass Teapot is a 400 ml (13.5 fl oz) pot with some tricks that help you make delicious tea right away: first, the measurement scale on its body (100-350 ml / 3.4-11.8 fl oz in 50 ml / 1.7 fl oz increments) allows you to be very precise in the quantity of water, which is the first step to great tea. And second, the absence of a strainer or a measure for the leaves: the lid takes care of both, so you essentially just put the leaves and hot water in, and that's it. Oh, and if you want to reheat your tea, both pot and lid are microwave-compatible!
