Gingado Kuroda Kanbei Helmet

Feudal lord armor replica

Between being a Christian (not very common for Japanese people in his position back in the 16th century) and an adviser to warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Kuroda Yoshitaka (aka Kuroda Kanbei) stands out among other feudal lords from Japan's Warring States period, the time when the country was in a turmoil with battles raging for over a century. So it's little wonder that someone would think to make a replica of his headgear: the Gingado Kuroda Kanbei Helmet!

The Gingado Kuroda Kanbei Helmet comes with a zabuton-style cushion, so you can display it properly, and is made of gold-plated, die-cast brass and zinc alloy. It is 11 x 14 x 12.5 cm (4.3 x 5.5 x 4.9") big and was created in Toyama Prefecture's Takaoka, a city known for its metallurgy techniques since the 17th century. The company that made it, Gingado, makes bronze and other alloy statues for Buddhist temples, an art form well known for its amazing emphasis on detail!
