Sushi Model Kit

DIY decorative Japanese food

364 pieces. That's how many pieces each of the two types of the Sushi Model Kit is made of. Every grain of rice, every piece of cucumber, every tiny ball of salmon roe is there – and you can put it all together to create an amazing full-scale replica of two of the most popular types of maki-zushi (sushi wrapped in nori seaweed) in Japan. The only thing you need to bring to the table is a pair of scissors and a pair of tweezers.

Does it sound a little weird? Actually, it isn't: the Japanese love food replicas, hence the food samples you see outside many Japanese restaurants. The idea is that customers can see what they are about to eat in a more realistic way than just looking at pictures. And while the Sushi Model Kit isn't exactly the same (food samples are usually made of some special type of wax), the concept is similar: create your own food replicas and get a, well, taste of the craft that goes into them!
