Chogokin Rubik's Cube

Transformer-style anniversary version of classic 3D puzzle

The year 1974 was a great one for toy fans: not only was one of the most famous puzzle toys, the Rubik's Cube, invented but Japan's major toy maker Bandai introduced (through its Popy subsidiary) the Chogokin series of metallic robots that have since become classics and, like the Rubik's Cube, gone through many different versions. And while each iteration is unique, the Chogokin Rubik's Cube is in a class of its own because it combines the two toys into a special, double-anniversary model!

Anyone who likes transforming robots will have probably already thought that the movements for solving a Rubik's Cube sort of resemble those that transform ordinary machines into robots. The Chogokin Rubik's Cube is the next logical step: what appears to be a regular 3 x 3 panel Rubik's Cube changes into a 145 mm (5.7") tall Chogokin with its own special display stand. And because a Chogokin is a fighting robot, its belly panel can also be fired like a rocket with the push of a button!
