Cherry Blossom Petal Chopstick Rests

Flower-themed Japanese tableware set

There is literally nothing in Japan that can't be decorated with cherry blossoms: despite the chrysanthemum being the country's official flower, the Japanese have collectively agreed that the small five-petal flower that only blossoms for a couple of weeks every year better expresses their sensibilities and aesthetic, and have used it literally and figuratively on anything, not always in the most tasteful way. This most certainly isn't the case with the Cherry Blossom Petal Chopstick Rests, though: these are among the most exquisite examples of sakura-shaped craftsmanship you'll find anywhere in Japan!

Made of bamboo and laminated wood, the Cherry Blossom Petal Chopstick Rests are a set of five, the number of the petals in a cherry blossom. Each 4 x 2.8 x 0.6 cm (1.6 x 1.1 x 0.2") petal is a rest for a pair of chopsticks but when they're not in use, you can put them all together to create a full flower. They're so beautiful that you'll perhaps be tempted to use them more as a decoration than actual chopstick rests. But you shouldn't: they are made to be used, hence the clear coating for their finish so they won't stain easily!
