So what's the story here? First, that the stand is the product of a ceramic tradition that goes back 400 years. And second, that the bowl is made from a special, antibacterial material that keeps your pet healthy, not to mention well-fed!

The Hasami part in the name refers to a town in Nagasaki that has been a ceramic and porcelain center since the 1600s and this is where the stand has been made – actually handmade, and available in white, greige, or blue-gray. But the actual bowl itself is made in Tsubame, Niigata, using a special steel from Nippon Steel, Japan's largest steelmaker: this steel, called NSSC AM-3, also contains an amount of copper that gives it antibacterial and antiviral properties. And the bowl is big (17 x 5.7 cm / 6.7 x 2.2") and heavy (815 g / 1.8 lb) enough to suit most pets!
