Botchan Jiro Soap

Traditional additive-free soap from Sendai

At the beginning of the 20th century, in the year 1901, a company called Hataso Shoten was founded in Miyagi Prefecture's capital, Sendai, with to sell a soap for washing silk fabrics. This soap was the predecessor of the Botchan Jiro Soap, which has become something of a symbol for Sendai and a synonym for a pure soap with no additives and rich foam that can be used by anyone. And which you can now try yourself!

The Botchan Jiro Soap comes in a six-bar pack of the historical soap that is so gentle on the skin that it can be used on any skin type, including babies, the elderly, or people with special skin sensitivities or ailments. Each bar weighs 100 g (3.5 oz) and the set also contains a net that can be used to make the Botchan Jiro's foam even richer. Good for hands, face, or your whole body and made today the same way it has been for over a century, this is a Japanese tradition that makes even something as trivial as washing your hands a unique experience!
