Balmuda has been hailed as one of the innovators in Japan's kitchen appliance industry but innovation doesn't always mean discarding the old in favor of the new: sometimes it means rediscovering the old by seeing it with fresh eyes. The Japanese are very good at this and the Balmuda MoonKettle is one more example of that special sensitivity when it comes to tradition, in this case the tetsubin kettle that has been used for boiling water for tea for centuries. The designers of Balmuda have taken this idea and given it their special spin to make the best kettle for your tea or coffee!
Keeping all the perfect curves of the classic tetsubin, the Balmuda MoonKettle is also a very modern kettle which comes with its own power base. The whole set is 217 x 297 x 226 mm (8.5 x 11.7 x 8.9") and weighs about 1.5 kg (3.3 lb). You can set the temperature from 50°C (122°F) to 50°C (212°F) in 1°C increments, which is great for different types of coffee and tea brewing, and the kettle itself has a capacity between 0.3 liters (10.1 fl oz) and 0.9 liters (30.4 fl oz), so can serve a whole family and still leave something for later, which it keeps warm for up to 30 minutes!
