Aomori Dogu Figurines Pasta

Ancient clay figure shape macaroni

We are so familiar with the samurai and their history going back a few hundred years that we might forget that Japanese civilization actually has a history that is thousands of years old. Among the earliest findings from those times are the dogu, the clay human and animal figures that were found all over the Japanese islands and date to the later part of the Jomon period, between 14,000 and 400 BCE! And they were the inspiration behind the Aomori Dogu Figurines Pasta, arguably the most imaginative and certainly the most Japanese past there is!

The Aomori Dogu Figurines Pasta weighs 100 g (3.5 oz) and contains pieces of pasta shaped like three of the most famous dogu: Gashodogu (the dogu with palms pressed together), Banjodogu (tablet-shape dogu), and the one that every Japanese knows, Shakokidogu or the goggle-eyed dogu. Made of wheat flour and needing only 4.3 minutes of boiling, they transform any soup, sauce, or salad on your table and make the dish even more appealing visually and tasty!
