It looks scary at first, especially to those who haven't yet seen Spirited Away, the classic Studio Ghibli anime film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki in 2001. Black with a white expressionless face, No-Face (Kaonashi) appears to be the archetypical ghost that everyone is afraid of. But as often happens in fantasy, things aren't always what they seem and by the end of the film, the spirit has changed - becoming one of the most lovable characters in anime. So much so that it has inspired the Spirited Away No-Face Cushion!
At 20 x 46 x 11 cm (7.8 x 18.1 x 4.3") and made of soft polyester, the Spirited Away No-Face Cushion is perfect for hugging – even for small children (and if hugging a faceless ghost sounds weird, remember: No-Face is well-loved in Japan!). Warm and cuddly, it is a great reminder that something that looks bad and scary might actually be friendly – and that it's never too early to appreciate the wonder of anime. Or too late for that matter: grown-up fans will also love this plush No-Face.
