Either version has a glass tube fits on top, in which you can put a few drops of your favorite essential oil using the eye dropper that's also included. There's no need to add water. Then, just plug the diffuser into your USB battery, turn the bronze dial on the front, and let it fill your space with fragrance: it works in three-minute cycles and has a two-hour auto-off timer, so you won't have to worry about what happens if you fall asleep!
