Tate Otama Standing Ladle

Practical soup ladle with base

The Japanese are very good at thinking solutions to everyday life's small problems. Often these fall under the "chindogu" category, i.e. things that are too silly to really catch on, but sometimes a talented designer (in this case, Mikiya Kobayashi from Tokyo) sits down and comes up with something so brilliant you wonder why no one thought of it before. Like the Tate Otama Standing Ladle, the ladle you always wished you had.

Despite being extremely useful, ladles have one problem: you never know where to put them when you are cooking. Especially when there's sauce involved, making a mess all over your kitchen and counter seems almost mandatory. Kobayashi's solution was ingenious: he cut a corner off the ladle's bowl, making it flat and therefore able to stand on its own. Coming in two sizes and three colors, and with a small plate/base so you can avoid the saucy mess, the Tate Otama Standing Ladle will become your standard kitchen utensil!
